In an increasing number of markets, « maverick companies » emerge and leverage software as the competitive weapon to own the market. What started 2 decades ago in e-commerce, now starts impacting markets we thought would never be impacted: taxis, banking, planes, cars, watches. Established companies that have been leading the race for decades are suddenly under attack and do not know how to fight back. In the next few years, we will see a new generation of Amazon and Google emerge, as well as a new generations of Kodak vanish.
We will cover the transition that’s taking place, explain how it is hugely disruptive to companies and how denial is the most typical reaction. Beyond denial, we will then show which IT concepts can be used to fight back: DevOps, automation, cloud and continuous delivery.
